In northern Bangkok, Lat Phrao is a very well-served junction: MRT Blue Line, BTS Sukhumvit Line (Ha Yaek Lat Phrao) and the Yellow Line. A residential and commercial area close to Chatuchak market, it offers gentler rents than the centre. As of 10 October 2026, our listings ranged from 16,500 to 33,000 THB a month.
Lat Phrao is often mentioned by Thais as a pleasant place to live, yet it remains little known among French-speaking newcomers. Located in northern Bangkok, around the big Ha Yaek Lat Phrao junction (the "five-way intersection"), it combines excellent transport, shopping centres, markets and rents more reasonable than in the centre.
1.Atmosphere: who is it for?
Lat Phrao is residential, lively and family-friendly, very Thai in its daily rhythm. There are recent towers near the stations, but also houses, small shopping streets and plenty of neighbourhood restaurants. It is less international than Sukhumvit, which appeals to people who want to live "the Bangkok way".
The area suits:
- professionals working in the north (Chatuchak, Mo Chit, Phahon Yothin) or along the MRT Blue Line;
- young couples and singles keeping an eye on their budget;
- people who love markets, street food and large green spaces.
2.Getting around: a junction of lines
This is Lat Phrao's great strength. Around the junction you have:
- the MRT Blue Line, with Lat Phrao and Phahon Yothin stations, heading down to Sutthisan, Huai Khwang, Rama 9 and Sukhumvit;
- the BTS Sukhumvit Line, with Ha Yaek Lat Phrao station, going to Mo Chit, Ari, Victory Monument and Siam;
- the MRT Yellow Line, a monorail running from Lat Phrao towards the east of the city, via Phawana and along Lat Phrao Road.
From the junction you reach Siam or Asok without changing lines, in roughly half an hour depending on the time of day. The central station, Krung Thep Aphiwat (Bang Sue), is only a few MRT stops away, handy for trains to the north of the country.
3.Daily life
The junction is dominated by Central Ladprao, directly accessible from the stations, with a supermarket, cinema, restaurants and services. Union Mall, next door, is known for its budget fashion shops.
A little to the west, Chatuchak Park and the neighbouring gardens form one of the city's largest green spaces, ideal for running or a weekend stroll. The famous Chatuchak Weekend Market is also close by.
Lat Phrao Road itself is lined with shops, restaurants and small markets. For healthcare, several hospitals and clinics are within reach: check which is closest to your address.
4.What budget?
As of 10 October 2026, our catalogue has four rental listings in Lat Phrao, from 16,500 to 33,000 THB a month:
| Property | Size | Advertised rent | Station |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 bedroom (Chapter One Midtown Ladprao 24) | 30 m² | 16,500 THB / month | MRT Lat Phrao, 50 m |
| 1 bedroom, Ha Yaek Lat Phrao junction | 41 m² | 25,000 THB / month | BTS Ha Yaek Lat Phrao, 50 m |
| 1 bedroom (The Crest Park Residences) | 35 m² | 33,000 THB / month | MRT Phahon Yothin, 150 m |
So you can live a stone's throw from a station for under 20,000 THB, and even the upmarket buildings stay below central Sukhumvit prices.
5.What to check before renting in Lat Phrao
- The most useful station for you: the BTS goes to Siam, the MRT to Sukhumvit and Silom. Choose the building according to the line of your daily commute.
- Works and the avenue: the junction is very busy. A bedroom facing the courtyard or a high floor will be quieter.
- The size of the home: one-bedrooms under 30 m² are common. Get the size confirmed and ask for photos of every room.
- Utility bills: electricity and water billed by the building or at the official rate? Have it written into the lease.

7.In short
