Phloen Chit (often spelled Ploenchit) is a central, elegant neighbourhood between the department stores of Chit Lom, Wireless Road and its embassies, and Lumphini Park. You live in the heart of the city, with the BTS and major malls within walking distance. Our catalogue here offers one-bedroom units at Life One Wireless, for rent and for sale.
1.Atmosphere: downtown, the elegant version
Phloen Chit covers the stretch of the main road that continues Sukhumvit westwards, between Nana and Chit Lom. It is an area of offices, hotels and upscale condos. To the south, Wireless Road (Witthayu) is lined with trees and several embassies, including that of the United States; it runs down to Lumphini Park.
The atmosphere is calmer than in Nana or Asok: you are right in the centre, but in a fairly quiet, well-kept environment, especially in small streets such as Soi Ruam Rudee or Soi Lang Suan across the main road.
Who is it for?
- professionals working downtown (Chit Lom, Siam, Silom, Sathorn);
- singles or couples who want a central, fairly quiet home;
- people connected with the embassies and international organisations nearby.
2.Getting around
BTS Phloen Chit (Sukhumvit line) is at the heart of the area; Chit Lom is one stop west. Allow roughly:
- 2 to 4 minutes to Siam, the interchange between the two BTS lines;
- 5 minutes to Asok for the MRT;
- a 15 to 20-minute walk, or a few minutes by taxi, to Lumphini Park and MRT Lumphini at the end of Wireless Road.
The Ratchaprasong skywalks connect Chit Lom station to the big malls, so you can avoid street-level traffic.
3.Daily life
- Central Embassy, at BTS Phloen Chit, and the Central Chidlom department store;
- the Ratchaprasong shopping district (CentralWorld) a few minutes away;
- Lumphini Park, one of the city's largest parks, at the end of Wireless Road;
- many cafés, restaurants and upscale supermarkets;
- Bumrungrad, a private hospital well known to expats, a few minutes away towards Nana.
4.Where to look in the area
- Around Wireless Road: upscale condos and prestigious buildings, a quiet, leafy setting.
- Soi Ruam Rudee and Soi Lang Suan: highly sought-after small residential streets between the main road and Lumphini Park.
- Near the station: convenient, with malls right at your doorstep.
5.Strengths and things to watch
Strengths
- a very central location, with major shopping on foot;
- a calmer setting than other equally central areas;
- Lumphini Park close by.
Things to watch
- high rents and sale prices;
- few large, moderately priced family apartments;
- heavy traffic on the main road at rush hour.
6.Budget: what our catalogue shows
As of 10 October 2026, our catalogue lists 5 properties in Phloen Chit, all at Life One Wireless (35 m² one-bedroom units, about 550 m from the BTS):
- rent: 25,000 to 30,000 THB a month depending on floor and furnishing;
- sale: 7.2 million THB.
These figures are a benchmark for a recent one-bedroom; older buildings in the area or very large units fall well outside this range, in either direction.
7.Before a viewing: the questions to ask
In such a central area, here is what we check before every viewing:
- The real distance to BTS Phloen Chit or Chit Lom, and whether there are covered walkways on the way.
- Exposure to traffic noise: a unit facing Wireless Road or a side street is often quieter.
- Building costs: pool, gym, parking, and what is included in the rent.
- Lease length: some landlords in the area prefer leases of at least one year.
