Nana, at the start of Sukhumvit, is a very central, cosmopolitan and lively area, one stop from Asok and close to Bumrungrad hospital. Rents are more affordable than in Thong Lo or Phrom Phong for a comparable location, at the cost of an atmosphere that can be noisy at night. Choosing the right street and building is key.
1.Atmosphere: cosmopolitan and on the move
Nana covers the start of Sukhumvit, roughly between Soi 1 and Soi 15, around the BTS station of the same name. It is one of Bangkok's most cosmopolitan areas: hotels, restaurants from around the world, shops open late, and a small Middle Eastern community around Soi 3 and 3/1.
Some streets in the area are known for their nightlife. The neighbourhood is not uniform, though: a few minutes' walk away, several residential side streets are perfectly liveable, and recent condos there often offer a good level of comfort.
Who is it for?
- professionals who want a central home on a controlled budget;
- people working downtown who want to walk or take the BTS;
- medium-term stays, while you get to know the city before choosing a long-term neighbourhood.
For a family, or if quiet is your priority, Phrom Phong, Ari or parts of Phloen Chit will often suit you better.
2.Getting around
BTS Nana (Sukhumvit line) sits between Phloen Chit and Asok. Allow roughly:
- 2 minutes to Asok, to change to the MRT;
- 5 to 8 minutes to Siam;
- 10 to 15 minutes to Thong Lo.
The nearest Airport Rail Link station is Makkasan, reachable by MRT from Asok (Phetchaburi station) or by taxi.
3.Daily life
- Bumrungrad International, a leading private hospital, on Soi 3;
- many supermarkets, pharmacies and shops open late;
- a very varied food scene: Indian, Middle Eastern, European and Thai street food;
- Terminal 21 and the shops of Asok one stop away;
- Benchakitti Park, reachable from Asok.
4.Where to look in the area
- Soi 11 to 15: very lively in the evening, but with several recent condos a few minutes from the BTS; visit at night.
- Soi 2 to 8, south side: often a little quieter, with older, more spacious buildings.
- Streets near Phloen Chit (Soi 1, 2): calmer, on the edge of the business district.
5.Strengths and things to watch
Strengths
- a very central location for the price;
- Bumrungrad hospital nearby;
- a very wide choice of restaurants and shops.
Things to watch
- noisy nightlife on some streets;
- very crowded pavements in the evening;
- a more touristy environment, to weigh against your expectations.
6.Budget: what our catalogue shows
As of 10 October 2026, our catalogue lists 2 properties in Nana, both at The Trendy Condominium (Soi 13): furnished 36 m² one-bedroom units about 250 m from the BTS, at 17,000 THB a month.
That is a noticeably lower rent than in Thong Lo or Phrom Phong for a similar size, which is what makes the area attractive for a first home.
7.Before a viewing: the questions to ask
In Nana, choosing the building matters as much as choosing the area. Before signing:
- What happens in the street at night? A viewing after 9 pm tells you more than one at noon.
- Building security: guards, key-card access, cameras.
- Window soundproofing, especially for bedrooms facing the street.
- Building rules on short-term rentals: a building that bans them is often quieter.
