In short

Bearing, at the south-eastern end of the Sukhumvit line's inner section, marks the border between Bangkok and Samut Prakan province. Residential and affordable, it appeals to families and people working towards Bang Na or Suvarnabhumi airport. Our catalogue offers a two-bedroom at UNiO Sukhumvit 72, at 18,000 THB a month.

1.Atmosphere: residential, family-friendly and affordable

The Bearing area is centred on the BTS station of the same name, at Sukhumvit Soi 105 and 107, in Bang Na district. Beyond it, the line continues towards Samrong and Samut Prakan province: the areas on that side are sometimes referred to as Pu Chao. The whole area is mainly residential: recent condos, houses in gated villages ("moo baan"), everyday shops.

It is far from the buzz of Thong Lo, but it offers more space for the same budget and convenient access to eastern Bangkok.

Who is it for?

  • families looking for a two-bedroom or a house at a moderate price;
  • people working in Bang Na, in the business zones of Samut Prakan or near Suvarnabhumi airport;
  • those who accept a longer commute downtown in exchange for a lower rent.

2.Getting around

BTS Bearing (Sukhumvit line) is two stops after Bang Na. Allow roughly:

  • 5 minutes to Bang Na, home to the BITEC exhibition centre;
  • 15 to 20 minutes to On Nut;
  • 30 to 35 minutes to Asok and about 40 minutes to Siam.

To the south, the BTS continues towards Samrong, where the MRT Yellow Line heads north along Srinakharin Road. By car, Bang Na-Trat Road and the expressways usually reach Suvarnabhumi airport in under half an hour outside rush hour.

3.Daily life

  • supermarkets and hypermarkets along Sukhumvit and Bang Na-Trat Road;
  • the large malls of the Bang Na area, such as Central Bangna;
  • the BITEC exhibition centre, at Bang Na station;
  • several international schools in the Bang Na - La Salle area, which explains the many expat families;
  • private clinics and hospitals in Bang Na district.

4.Where to look in the area

  • Around Bearing station: recent condos a few minutes' walk away, the most convenient.
  • Side streets towards La Salle (Sukhumvit 105): residential villages and houses, often chosen by families.
  • The Samut Prakan side (Pu Chao, Samrong): even lower rents, with the Yellow Line at Samrong.

5.Strengths and things to watch

Strengths

  • low rents for larger homes;
  • a residential, family-friendly environment;
  • convenient access to Suvarnabhumi airport and the east of the city.

Things to watch

  • a long commute downtown, especially at rush hour;
  • fewer restaurants and less neighbourhood life than downtown;
  • some addresses are in Samut Prakan province: check which administrative procedures depend on it.

6.Budget: what our catalogue shows

As of 10 October 2026, our catalogue offers a 41 m² two-bedroom at UNiO Sukhumvit 72, about 500 m from BTS Bearing, at 18,000 THB a month (listed twice, under Bearing and under Pujao).

For comparison, that rent barely covers a studio in Thong Lo: that is the whole appeal of the area.

7.Before a viewing: the questions to ask

In Bearing, the right home depends mostly on your daily routine. Before a viewing:

  • The real travel time to your workplace, by BTS and by car.
  • The administrative address: Bangkok or Samut Prakan, depending on your paperwork.
  • Parking: often essential if you work towards Bang Na or the airport.
  • Distance to schools, if your children attend school in the area.
